Performances by Raksanna - Available to Perform and Teach Anywhere!
Raksanna has been studying and performing
Middle Eastern belly dance for many years. Her repertoire includes
Cabaret, Melaya, Beledi, Sword, Raqs Al Assara and other eclectic pieces
that incorporate modern American influences into her dance. She also
performs special routines showcasing Shamaden, floor work, veil,
candles, cane, zils and more.
Birthday Parties,
Girls Night In, Restaurant Performances and Much More! In addition
to gala shows, master workshops and seminars, Raksanna is available for
tasteful authentic Oriental Belly Dance performances at restaurants,
birthday and retirement parties, weddings, corporate events, fund
raisers and social engagements. (However, she absolutely does not
perform private dances or at bachelor parties.) Because performances can
be tailored to your specific desires, prices vary from venue to venue.

please be aware of the performance requirements that are provided
by the host of the event: sound system capable of playing music CDs,
private lockable changing space for before and after the
performance, a minimum of 10'x10' performance space.

Raksanna and the Desert Flames
Raksanna is the artistic director of the
Desert Flames, a dance troupe dedicated to the beautiful art form of
Middle Eastern dance. The troupe performs Cabaret style Egyptian Raks
Sharqi, traditional and folkloric dances from the Middle East as well as
modern and experimental pieces that captivate all audiences! (In fact,
they performed at the Harley Davison 100th Anniversary
Celebration in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and left a partying group of more
than 1,000 bikers speechless when watching their beautiful performance!)
The Desert Flames have performed at
numerous events such as the American Cancer Society’s “Walk for the
Cure,” universities, Chicago’s International Hostel, corporate diversity
days, festivals, parades, fundraising events and birthday parties.

Raksanna has performed professionally as
a soloist for nearly a decade. As a versatile dancer, her repertoire
includes modern Egyptian, folkloric styles and experimental
choreographies. She has taught numerous workshops and has weekly
classes at her dance studio.
In addition to teaching, Raksanna is the
Artistic Director and Choreographer of the Desert Flames and the
Artistic Director of the annual “Celebrate Diversity: Belly Dance
Cabaret.
Meet the Troupe Members
Fabiana
has been studying and performing Middle Eastern dance under Raksanna for
four years. As a child, she dreamed of being a dancer and as an adult,
she is fulfilling one of her life’s dreams. She is a graduate of
Raksanna’s year-long apprenticeship program, is a faculty member of
Raksanna’s studio and is also the assistant director of the Desert
Flames.
Rose
fell in love with Middle Eastern dance four years ago, when she started
studying with Raksanna. In addition to being a member of the Desert
Flames, she is also a faculty member of Raksanna’s Pilates and Fitness
studio.
Val
has always loved Middle Eastern music and found herself through belly
dance when she began her studies with Raksanna. In addition to being a
member of the Desert Flames, she is a graduate of Raksanna’s Pilates
apprenticeship program and is a member of Raksanna’s Pilates and Fitness
faculty.
Cheryl
has been studying dance since she was a small child. She recently began
Middle Eastern dance under Raksanna and has quickly progressed from a
level 1 student to a member of Raksanna’s Desert Flames. In addition,
Cheryl is in Raksanna’s Middle Eastern Dance apprenticeship program and
will soon graduate to become a full faculty member.
Elise
has been intrigued by Middle Eastern Dance for as long as she can
remember and got her start in Pennsylvania. After moving to the Chicago
area, she started taking classes with Raksanna and has been a Desert
Flames member since May 2005.
